ChemoCentryx - GlaxoSmithKline Exercised Option for Exclusive License for Traficet-EN (CCX282-B)

ChemoCentryx Inc., of Mountain View, Calif., said GlaxoSmithKline plc, of London, has exercised its option for an exclusive license for development and worldwide commercialization of Traficet-EN (CCX282-B), a specific CCR9 antagonist in the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases, including Crohn's disease. The option includes two identified backup compounds. ChemoCentryx will receive an option exercise fee of $35 million and may be eligible for further regulatory milestone payments. GSK will now assume responsibility for development of CCX282-B in patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease. Potential ulcerative colitis studies will also be considered.
