BioWorld Today: News to Note - Sutro Biopharma
June 15, 2012 - BioWorld Today
Sutro Biopharma, of San Francisco, signed a licensing agreement with The Scripps Research Institute that provides the company with access to click chemistry. The modular synthetic approach, developed by Nobel Laureate K. Barry Sharpless, the W.M. Keck professor of chemistry at Scripps, allows the assembly of new molecular structures by joining two molecular units together. Sutro said it will apply click chemistry for the synthesis of therapeutic protein candidates by using its biochemical protein synthesis platform to incorporate one or more of the “click” components into a peptide or protein chain. No financial terms of the agreement were disclosed.
